Swedish companies taking their first steps onto the Dutch market

When the Swedish business development organization Almi (www.almi.se) contacted me in autumn 2021 about their export program towards the Netherlands for local companies, I was immediately interested. They asked me to take care of the corporate and contract law part of the program, by hosting a legal workshop in Swedish for the interested companies. Due to COVID restrictions this was done electronically, and yesterday morning I presented the Dutch corporate landscape as well as the ins and outs of distribution and agency agreements to a number of interesting Swedish companies.

When taking your business across the border, it is very important to inform yourself about the local customs, laws and regulations. Not only to be able to take a well-informed decision about how to expand abroad, but also to avoid the many pitfalls that are waiting if you don’t prepare correctly. The people at Almi did a great job at matching the needs of the attending companies with the people in the Netherlands that are able to provide the necessary insight.

Once the companies that attended the workshop yesterday have taken the Dutch market by storm, I hope to be able to look back at yesterday’s presentation and know that I contributed a tiny bit to their international growth. Good luck to you all – the world is your oyster.
